GEST - Futurism EP
GEST - Futurism EP
SHA193 - Released 13/08/2021
Shogun Audio proudly present the debut EP from GEST. Showcasing the full spectrum of the duo’s sound, the Futurism EP is their most defined body of work to date; ranging from the tech-inspired rollers they’ve come to be known for to pure liquid bliss.
Title track 'Futurism' opens, featuring a mesmerising distorted, looping synth hook circling round and round underneath lashing, rolling drums that will undoubtedly (and eventually) be heard on dancefloors later in the year. Steppy number ’No Doubt’ follows, waves of sub layered with syncopated kicks and synth interjections. Featuring light, rolling breaks, ’Shame’ highlights GEST’s ability to write darker liquid; a haunting vocal hook, marimba-like riff and warm synths leaving listeners in a trance. ‘Deja Vu’ closes, a light, sonic digestif that expertly showcases the pair’s versatility in the studio.
Following continued support from the likes of DJ Marky, Grafix and Doc Scott and airplay on Rene LaVice’s BBC Radio 1 show and Dan Aux’s George FM show in New Zealand, GEST continue to impress and carve out their own sound identity in the scene with this latest body of work.
